Your Questions About Hair Loss Tips For Men

Ken asks…

How many different reasons are there for hair loss or thinning hair?

i know someone who im very close with that her hair is apparently beggining to thin and some of it comes out when you comb it and she got tested for a thyroid and its negative so were really afraid it might be cancer and im really scared
This girl is 17 she had a blood test for a couple things including cancer which came out negative along with the thyroid but shes going in for a sonogram to make sure in a couple days.

sam smith answers:

Cancer doesn’t cause hair to fall out. Treatments for cancer like, chemotherapy, or radiation cause hair to fall out. Chemotherapy drugs are powerful medications that attack rapidly growing cancer cells. A reason that her hair falls out might be

Seasonality which makes you lose the most hair in the fall — typically November and December when hair reaches maturity in its growth cycle.

Androgenic Alopecia, which is the prodominant cause of hair loss in both men and women. It occurs as the result of a build-up of the hormone DHT in the bloodstream. DHT binds itselt to your hair follicles and- long story short, it strangles them to death.

Vitamin & Mineral Deficiencies
People with poor dietary habits are far more likely to experience thinning hair in their lifetime. Vitamins and minerals keep us functioning. They are the catalyst for all of our life’s functions. Specifically, vitamins A, B, C, and E… Along with magnesium, iron, zinc, and copper all work together to keep our integumentary system (skin, hair, and nails) tip-top and growing properly.

Poor pH Balance

This is one of the most overlooked principles in the entire world of health. Our bodies are only as healthy as the state of our blood. When we become acidic (as opposed to alkaline), all sorts of health challenges arise. Among these, dermatological conditions such as severe acne, cysts, psoriasis, and hair loss are not only possible, they’re to be expected.

I hope this helps and you guys figure out whats wrong.

Donald asks…

Any tips on how to grow your nails without using any cosmetic products?

I use to have really long nails.but I’ve started biting them and now they’re really short any tips on how to stop biting them and how to grow them quickly without any products?

sam smith answers:

Cosmetic products are part of a billion dollar business, they DON’T make nails grow! Sorry, I’m being honest!
I was a nail biter for 25 years, but you need to find some kind of therapy because that is considered OCD – Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. When you dropped one problem, you end up with a new problem.

Number one: keep your fingers occupied. Take up a new hobby, also try chewing gum – sugarfree pref.
(Another reason why I love to type, & a TC on YA!)

Second: try to make your fingers look nice, let them grow. That way you’ll have a good reason NOT to bite them.

Growing nails & hair comes from: your good genes, good nail/hair care, and all the healthy foods you eat everyday from Mother Nature.
Beauty products don’t make nails grow. Eating does. Babies can do that just by drinking their milk. People giving advice on YA! Should list their sources.

You really are what you eat. If you’re eating all the healthy foods from Mother Nature – not made by man or woman or supplements from GNC, your hair, nails, teeth, and the rest of your body will benefit too. You get all your vitamins & minerals from your diet. Your hair’s fine. You’re health’s fine, so are your nails. Made-by man vitamins can do more harm than good. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) doesn’t have to approve supplements — no agency in the United States does. Because of inadequate quality control and inspection, supplements contaminated with heavy metals, pesticides, or prescription drugs have been sold to unsuspecting consumers. And FDA rules covering manufacturing quality don’t apply to the companies that supply herbs, vitamins, and other raw ingredients.
Beginning in February 2008, they experienced one symptom after another: diarrhea, joint pain, HAIR LOSS, lung problems, and fingernails and toenails that fell off. FDA has received numerous reports of harm associated with the use of these products, including stroke, liver injury, kidney failure, heart palpitations, and death. 3-15-11
Do NOT TAKE SUPPLEMENTS without your doctor’s OK.

Google: FIVE FOODS TO EAT FOR BEAUTIFUL SKIN.
Google: “Foods for Healthy Hair” –
Google: Feeding Your Hair Nutrients For Healthy Growth
With all the healthy foods and the nutrition, hair experts agree these things can impact hair, nails and skin.

My Hubby, my SIL and their mom ALL have the same nails and break easily and hubby and I have eaten the same foods for over 39 years. Then it’s from your genes.

Get a manicure to a good salon, or do them yourself. You can protect them by using one of those plastic gloves. I use gloves often: for chores, gardening, handling papers, going outside during winter, spring & fall, and kitchen, painting, crafting, etc. That way I don’t have to wash my hands often.
Gel can harm your nerves. Google gel manicure warnings. About 456,000 results (0.17 seconds).

Chris asks…

Best product to treat hair loss in men?

My brother is in his early 30s, and in the last few years his hair has become thinner, and a lot of his hair has been falling off. From your experience, what would you recommend as the product now to treat hair loss in men. Thank you for your answers.

sam smith answers:

TOP 8 TIPS TO REDUCE HAIR LOSS

1. Quit or cut back on smoking, caffeine and carbonated sodas which weaken the body and block maximum hair growing potential.
2. Eat a healthy diet. Avoid foods that are high in sugar or fat.
3. Avoid use of hot water, hot blow dryers or other hair care tools that may stress the hair.
4. Have a weekly scalp massage to provide stimulation to the hair follicles.
5. Do a series of ongoing hot oil treatments to protect the hair’s shaft.
6. Have regular trims to eliminate split ends and allow the hair to look and feel healthier.
7. Get plenty of rest and sleep to allow your body to grow hair.
8. Massaging your scalp several times a day improves the blood circulation in your scalp area. As a direct result, the improved blood flow in the scalp area helps the transfer of oxygen and other growth promoting nutrients to the hair follicles. This will directly help you achieve healthier and thicker hair volume.

Linda asks…

How can you get your hair to grow faster?

Recently i got my hair cut much shorter than it was before, and i dont like it at all and want my old hair back? Any tips on how to get it grow faster?

sam smith answers:

If you’re healthy, & very active, your nails are growing, your hair should be growing RIGHT NOW. If you want perfection, you NEED patience. Like you can’t speed up Mondays skip to Fridays, it doesn’t work that way.

Babies can do that, by drinking their milk. . . . So can you, so can any of us without any help. From your: good genes, good hair care and all the healthy foods from Mother Nature, that’s where you get all your vitamins & minerals for growing from head to toes. Shampoos are meant for cleaning the hair, not for growing.
Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don’t expect to look like you’ve stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you’ve changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results. Hair is dead, but hair also has electrical energy; the negative charge of damaged hair can lead to flyways and unruly hair.

Growing healthy hair doesn’t come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you’re in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you’re eating healthy foods. But when hair isn’t growing as fast, it’s because they’ve been tampered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .

Cutting your split ends yourself, spend 5-10 mins. On a sunny day so you can easily spot them, using a 2″ scissors, cut strand by strand, section by section, allowing new growth to take over. Then 2x a year, get a good hair cut. This won’t speed things up, but it will make the hair look healthier while it’s growing. Even healthy hair like mine get them, due to normal brushing & styling. Hormonal changes can have a big effect on hair.

Remember: The hair industry is a billion dollar business, they sell products that cleans & condition the hair. They also sell products that damage and causes hair loss. They also DO NOT give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to ‘abuse’. Mechanical, chemical, or thermal styling. Hair straighteners and relaxers top the hair products pose the greatest risks. Hair relaxers, related products marketed heavily to African-American women, are dangerous because they may contain powerful chemicals such as lye, a toxic substance also used in drain cleaners.

Man-made products & supplements can do more harm than good.
3-15-11. Pills like medications ALL have side effects. Beware. Example: “I used minoxidil drug to restore the hair on my head; however, I ended up with unwanted body hair. I don’t know if it is temporary or I have to seek medical treatment.” YA poster 9-27-12.
Google Shanyna Isom Grows Nails Instead Of Hair Due To Skin Condition. Huffington Post By Rebecca Ballhaus

HAIR TRIVIA:
• The hair on your head grows at about 0.00000001 miles per hour. That’s a half-inch per month. Mine grows 3/4″ in 29 days.
• Every day, the 5 million or so hairs on an adult’s body add about 40 yards of new growth.
• At any given moment, about 90% of the hairs on your head are growing and 10% are getting ready to abandon ship.

People giving advice here, should list their sources, and not try to sell you products.

Sources:
5 decades of hair know how, previously damaged by perming & dyeing in the 80’s & 90’s. Have used cheap shampoos for 15 years, no conditioner, but good hair care helps, and all the healthy foods from Mother Nature not made by man.
